Who We Are

Directed by professional drummer Daniel Akaoui (BMus Hons), DrumSpot London is the official UK branch of the Swiss drum school DrumSpot – Scuola Di Batteria, offering high quality, specialist teaching in drums. Located in the North London borough of Haringey, the school provides one-to-one tuition in person or online. Students can expect to receive a comprehensive musical education, and will have the option to work towards graded music exams with Trinity College London or Rock School.

Daniel Akaoui

Director and Drum Tutor

Daniel is a Swiss drummer and educator based in London, with a passion for sharing his knowledge and love of music and the drums. In 2017, he graduated with first class honours from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. He has studied with internationally-acclaimed drummers such as Kaz Rodriguez, Daniel Glass, Benny Greb, Gabor Dornyei, Claus Hessler, Darren Ashford, Chuck Sabo, Toby Goodman, Fergus Gerrand, Neil Martin, Justin Scott, Erick Stams, Alex Marchisone, Walter Calloni and Romano Nardelli.

Besides being a session drummer, Daniel is also a member of the hard-rock band Leader of Down, founded by ex-Motörhead guitarist Würzel, and he is the co-founder of genre-crossing band HORGA.

He has performed at well-known venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, including Ronnie Scott’s, O2 Academy Leicester, O2 Academy Islington, BBC Introducing, Call Of The Wild Festival, Camden Assembly London, Bus Palladium (Paris), Supersonic (Paris), Primo Maggio Festival Olbia (Italy), Lemmy Kilmister’s Memorial (Berlin), The Globe (Cardiff), and The Garage (Glasgow).

Daniel holds an enhanced DBS certificate and is fluent in both English and Italian.

He has enormous patience especially with someone like myself who is never going to be the next Buddy Rich but that doesn’t matter, I enjoy the lessons although it’s a bit early to book the O2 for my first gig.
